The Helix Hollow Core Foam Roller uses a rigid EPP shell around a hollow centre, which is what lets it stay firm under bodyweight instead of collapsing after a month the way a solid foam roller does. The raised plum-shape nodes across the surface concentrate pressure into narrow bands rather than spreading it flat, so the roll bites where a smooth roller would simply glide.

At 30 by 15cm it is short enough to travel with and to target one muscle at a time, whether that is a quad, an IT band, a calf, or the upper back. Athletes use it before training to wake tissue up and afterwards to work through tightness. The hollow core keeps the weight down to almost nothing, so it clips onto a bag without noticeably adding to the load.

Start with less bodyweight than you think you need and build up, because a textured roller is considerably firmer than a smooth one. Roll muscle rather than joints, bone, or the lower back, and keep moving instead of parking on one painful spot for minutes at a time.
